Tumeric and Ginger Tea

I really love tea.  Not necessarily the tea-in-a-bag sort.  I love to brew something fresh or use whole leaves.  Today I tried this new one and I’m hooked.  It was so creamy and yummy!  Definitely good for a chilly or snowy day.  Here is how I made it but I also included the original recipe link below:

  • Fresh tumeric
  • Fresh ginger
  • Cinnamon, 1/2 tsp
  • Whole Black Pepper, 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut Milk
  • Raw honey

I have a small serving cast iron tea pot in which I added several slices of fresh tumeric and ginger (I sliced 3 slim pieces off and then cut them into smaller bits) along with filtered water.  I brought to a slow boil and let it simmer about 10-15 minutes, remove from heat and let continue to steep for a few minutes while you warm about 1/4-1/2 cup coconut milk in a saucepan over low heat.

Fill a mug 1/2 way with the tumeric/ginger tea that has steeped, add the cinnamon, black pepper and honey, finish off with the warm coconut milk.  Enjoy!!

Here is the original recipe that I found:  Tumeric Tea

Thanks! I don’t use milk either so I always have coconut or almond milk handy. I think either would work. Let me know how you like it!
